Ric Evans' Son Mike Evans #1 Wrestler In The Nation

UPDATE: Mike Evans was red shirted his freshman year but has made Iowa's varsity wrestling squad this year. To make the team he had to beat a 4 time Iowa state champ whose record was 183-0 Mike beat him 4-2 for varsity at 169 lbs You can catch him on the Big Ten network.

Mike Evans is ranked #1 in the nation in Highschool wrestling at 189 lbs after defeating both his opponents in this past weekend's match.

Mike wrestled the #7 and #4 ranked wrestlers in the nation. The #4 wrestler from Texas, who is going to Bucknell next year, wrestled hard but Mike beat him 7-2. Mike hit two standing pancake type power throws and dumped his opponent to his back. According to Bill Bryson "It was impressive to watch."

"Mike is Headed to Iowa in September. In college wrestling, that is as good as it gets." said Bill Bryson.
